This month we will be practicing mindful walking. Mindful walking helps calm the mind by becoming aware of what is going on inside us and the world around us. It helps bring the senses inward to calm the mind. To practice mindful walking we will take our heel to the ground, then our toes. Once we have practiced this a few times we will walk in a circle saying to ourselves “heel…toe…heel….toe… “ We talk about how the children who are going the slowest are the winners. We are so used to rushing in our fast paced society that this activity helps take us back a notch and truly tune in. While we are walking mindfully we will be taking some deep breaths.
