Stress Management Tool: Guided Imagery
Hello! Thanks for reading.
This week our stress management tool is guided imagery.
Over the past 40 years, the effectiveness of guided imagery has been increasingly established by research findings that demonstrate its positive impact on health, creativity and performance.
Finding a comfortable position with your body, relax eyes shut or focus on one point. Read your child/children a script about a peaceful place they can go in their minds. Here is one short and effective one that our students love:
Take a deep breath in and let it go
soften your face
relax your shoulders
and feel the air on your skin
Imagine you are floating on a cloud
you are relaxed and feel peaceful as you float through the sky
Imagine the shape of your cloud as you float slowly
feel the cloud under your body
you feel relaxed as your worries melt away
say to yourself :I am focused I feel relaxed
When to do this?
Teachers: Before a test or before transitions
Parents: Before bed
Feel free to add some peaceful music to the background and dim lights. Making the environment feel as peaceful as possible.
