A tool to self-soothe for youth and adults

This has been a tool in my toolbox especially when I am feeling anxious or overwhelmed. I hope it can help you and your students/kids find a moment of pause to reconnect with breath, body, and mind.

The video below will show an example of how to lengthen the exhale.

  • Inhale deeply to fill the lungs to their maximum capacity
  • As you exhale concentrate on lengthening the exhale
  • Inhale for the count of 4, exhale the count of 6 or 7. Play around with numbers that work best for your lung capacity
  • Although this tool helps in moments of stress it is helpful to practice when we are not stressed
